The Loves Unknown

April 11, 1989

Digital heartbreaks, the loves unknown
talking with less expression than phones
you tell her you want her, you're feeling alone
but you're not... so do the others.

You don't know what she looks like
and tell yourself you don't care
and something in the conversation
keeps you typing there
competing with guys just like yourself
and just as unaware
you're at arms with your brothers.

So you sit there talking, sending to "your" girl
and think that somehow meeting her
will solve the problems of the world
as if all of vax - an oyster
and she were the one pearl
and that you were right for one another.
